Ragazziclothing.co.uk Interview

This month we chat to Phil from the Ragazziclothing.co.uk

How long have you been trading?

We opened our Wrexham retail store back in 1993, over 16 years ago now. Over
the years we’ve expanded the shop to cover over 2000 square foot of retail
space across two large floors. Our website www.ragazziclothing.co.uk started
trading just under a year ago and has grown into a big store in it’s own
right.

Which are your best selling brands?

At the moment Ralph Lauren is a really big seller for us, anything with the
Big Pony on flies out online all over the place, the same in store. Original
Penguin has also been a good brand for us lately with the core Earl and Jack
polos pretty much selling themselves.

For those not familiar with your store, what brands exactly do you stock?

We currently stock:
•        Fred Perry
•        Gabicci Vintage
•        Gant
•        Henri Lloyd / Henri Lloyd Footwear
•        Lacoste / Lacoste Trainers
•        Paul And Shark
•        Original Penguin
•        Peter Werth
•        Polo Ralph Lauren
•        Rockport
•        Victorinox
•        Voi Jeans

What brand do you think will be big this winter?

We’ve got a lot of faith in Barbour for the coming winter, the collection we
viewed this Spring was fantastic. Some really stand out pieces mixed in
among the already popular Liddesdale and International jackets. We should be
receiving our first drop any day now.

What are your plans for the next 12 months?

Over the next 12 months we plan on the continual growth of our retail stores
and our website. We should hopefully be opening a new store soon that will
bring in a whole new client base and allow us access to a few new brands.
Website wise we’re constantly finding new ways of marketing the site and
adding new features to try and make our site the first stop for men’s
designer clothing.

How did you select your brands?

Our brand selection hopefully reflects a good mix of both high end and
casual brands that can be worn along side each other. We knew there were a
few brands, Polo Ralph Lauren, Lacoste and Voi Jeans, were ones we really
needed to help our online growth. Thankfully it’s worked!

What stands out in the new season ,SS09?

Aside from the Ralph Lauren our biggest brand this season has to be Voi
Jeans. It’s a very accessible brand with price points ranging from the low
£20s for tees and up to £70 for jeans. For the price of the clothing the
quality is second to none. This has really reflected in the sales of the
brand for us, especially online.

What's your personal favourite label?

At the moment Ralph Lauren! It’s a timeless brand that has really stayed the
course. The tees we’re selling now will still be just as fashionable and
well-wearing in 10/15 years time. This could change in a few weeks when our
first Barbour drop arrives, I’ve got my eye on a nice black Liddesdale for
the rainy season!

How About trainers?

We’ve recently started buying more into the footwear from a few of our
brands including Lacoste, Henri Lloyd, Fred Perry and Penguin. They’ve done
really well for us bringing in a few extra sales when people are looking for
an outfit, our sales of tees, jeans and trainers together have gone up a lot
since we started buying more ranges.

What are your long term plans for Ragazzi?

Hopefully in the next few years our brands list will have increased
massively with maybe two or three more retail stores across the country. Our
online business is booming at the moment so a lot of effort will be going
into making sure that carries on and hopefully we can grow into one of the
biggest online indies of them all.
